Michelle Obama’s look won’t be the only fashion statement to live on past last week’s Inauguration. Selling like hotcakes are $179 versions of Aretha Franklin’s distinctive hat with its Swarovski rhinestone-rimmed bow that the Queen of Soul wore to sing “America” at the swearing-in ceremony. The hat’s designer, Luke Song of Detroit’s Mr. Song Millinery, tells the Los Angeles Times he’s sold thousands since its debut on national TV. While Aretha’s hat was a customized version, Song will be responding to demand by producing a collection of 12 hats in a variety of colors and bow sizes, priced from $150-$220. The Aretha-inspired collection will be shown during February’s Women’s Wear in Nevada trade show in Las Vegas. The company sells its hats in over 500 U.S. stores. and while they usually doesn’t name their toppers, this collection will be named after the singer herself. If you’re dying for a hat like Aretha’s, click over to mrsongmillinery.com for contact info.

WHO OWNS IT?
Posh vs. Becks for Giorgio Armani

VICTORIA BECKHAM has copied husband DAVID by stripping off for a steamy new Giorgio Armani advert.

The style-conscious former Spice Girl has previously turned down offers of lingerie photoshoots after moaning she looks "really awful naked".

However Victoria looks anything but in her FIRST ever underwear shoot for the fashion house's Spring Summer campaign.

The £12million modelling deal follows the huge success of David's eye-popping Armani campaign last summer.

He caused mayhem in San Francisco when billboards of the footie star showing off his well-endowed lunchbox were unveiled.

And we're certain body-shy Victoria will cause similar waves after baring almost all.

In one snap the singer-turned-designer sprawls provocatively in a polka dot design and high heels on the floor of a dimly-lit hotel room.

While in another, Victoria shows off her toned physique as she sits on the edge of an unmade bed.

The pictures of Victoria, shot in location in Los Angeles by renowned fashion photographers Maert Alas and Marcus Piggott, are the first in the three-year multi-million pound deal.

She said: "It's an honour to have been selected by Mr Armani to represent the Emporio Armani Underwear brand and to execute his vision with the incredibly talented team of Mert & Marcus."

While Armani himself praised Victoria as "a style icon, a dynamic lady whose influence and recognition will add great excitement to the continued international growth of our Emporio Armani women's underwear business."

There are people who dress up and there are people who dress down. There are people who dress badly and people who dress inappropriately. Some dress blindly or cheaply, and there are those who barely dress at all. There are people who wear costumes, and people who wear uniforms. There’s fancy dress and armor, clothes that say, “Come here” or “Stand back,” that whisper, “Trust me” or “Respect me,” that shout, “Fear me.” But there are very few people, just a handful, who have a relationship with their clothes like Daphne Guinness. The Guinness heir and fashion muse doesn’t dress up or down. She dresses out. Her clothes don’t say anything at all, because they’re not talking to you. They’re too entranced by Daphne Guinness. But she has never had a look, never once, never remotely, that was anyone’s but her very own. -- Vanity Fair, Aug. 2008

I've become a secret admirer of Daphne Guinness and her style. She's a wonderful fashion stylist, wealthy socialite, film producer and, yes, a member of the Guinness brewing family. Known for her elegant and original dress sense and love for couture... She seems to have streamlined her colour palette to black and white (from head-to-toe, literally!), preferring to experiment with texture and shape while firmly planting her feet in sky high platform Louboutins.

"The thing about haute couture, unlike prêt-à-porter clothing, is that you actually have to engage with the process and repeatedly go for fittings. Couture clothes last so much longer because so much work goes into them. [...] I still buy couture, but very little and very carefully, because it’s so expensive. The last piece was a small coat-dress from Chanel, which I’ve worn about 50 times already."

"I hate the concept of “must-haves”. Once something is a must-have, I want to put it in the bin. I know that sounds grand and horrid, but I don’t want anyone to tell me I need to have anything. I’m not very good at “It” bags, either. I’ve had the same bag for about five years and I can’t be bothered to get another one. So many bags are really heavy – especially those Chloé Paddington things."

Check out this article from the NYT about whats wrong with US Vogue. It's a pretty good read. I would copy and paste it here but it's a little long.
